Joseph Beuys was a German Fluxus, performance artist, art theorist and pedagogy of art. His extensive work is grounded in concepts of humanism, social philosophy and anthroposophy. Joseph Beuys was born in 1921 in Germany. In 1940 he joined the military, He was trained as an aircraft radio operator and combat pilot. At the end of the war he was held in a British prisoner-of-war camp for several months, and returned to Kleve in 1945, on his return from the war Beuys enrolled in the Düsseldorf Academy of Art to study sculpture. He graduated in 1952, and during the next years focused on drawing--he produced thousands during the 1950s alone--and reading, ranging freely through philosophy, science, poetry, literature, and the occult. B) During the early 1960s, Düsseldorf developed into an important center for contemporary art and Beuys became acquainted with the experimental work of artists such as Nam June Paik and the Fluxus group, whose public "concerts" brought a new fluidity to the boundaries between literature, music, visual art, performance, and everyday life. As the decades advanced, his commitment to political reform increased and he was involved in the founding of several activist groups: in 1967, the German Student Party, whose platform included worldwide disarmament and educational reform; in 1970, the Organization for Direct Democracy by Referendum, the Free International University and In 1979 he was one of 500 founding members of the Green Party. Beuys also continued to make objects, installations, multiples, and performances. His reputation in the international art world solidified after a 1979 retrospective at New York's Guggenheim Museum. His career was characterized by passionate, even acrimonious public debate. He is now regarded as one of the most influential artists of the second half of the 20th century.
Joseph Beuys died in 1986 in Düsseldorf. In the subsequent decade his students have carried on his campaign for change, and his ideas and artwork have continued to spark lively debate.

Latour was one of those extroverted visionaries whose art faithfully reflects certain aspects of the outer world. most of his compositions are of figures seen by the light of a single candle

A New Statue of Mahatma Gandhi (Photo; UK's Foreign Secretary William Hague )
A new statue of Mahatma Gandhi will be erected opposite the Houses of Parliament, In London, in 2015, the inspiration for non-violent civil rights movements around the world, to be erected in Parliament Square, UK, the country he took on for India’s freedom. It will be in place in time for the centenary of Gandhi’s return to India to begin the non-violent struggle for self rule.
London already has a Gandhi statue in Tavistock Square in the heart of central London.
The difference between a democracy and a dictatorship is that in a democracy you vote first and take orders later; in a dictatorship you don't have to waste your time voting.

Sergei Yesenin was one of the most popular and well-known Russian poet of the 20th century.
28 December in 1925 Yesenin was found dead in his room in the Hotel Angleterre. His last poem Goodbye my friend, goodbye , Yesenin complained that there was no ink in the room, and he was forced to write with his blood, academic researchers of Yesenin's life, the poet was in a state of depression a week after the end of treatment in a mental hospital and committed suicide by hanging.
A theory exists that Yesenin's death was actually a murder by NKVD agents who staged it to look like suicide.

Roland Topor
(1938 - 1997) Roland Topor was a French painter, writer, filmmaker and actor.
He was of Polish Jewish origin and spent the early years of his life in Savoy where his family hid him from the Nazi peril. Topor wrote the novel The Tenant, in 1964 which was adapted to film by Roman Polanski in 1976. The Tenant is the story of a Parisian of Polish descent, a chilling exploration of alienation and identity, asking disturbing questions about how we define ourselves.
Alan Turing was an English mathematician and pioneer of computer science and one of the key figures in the breaking of the Enigma code, used by the Germans to send secret orders to their U-boats in World War II. Turing was also a private homosexual in Britain at a time when this was illegal, besides being a security risk. In 1954 Alan Turing committed suicide, after being convicted of the criminal offence of homosexual behavior in private. He was offered a choice between two years in prison and a course of hormonal injections which could be said to amount to chemical castration, and would have caused him to grow breasts. His final, private choice was an apple that he had injected with cyanide. 'As the pivotal intellect in the breaking of the German Enigma codes, Turing arguably made a greater contribution to defeating the Nazis than Eisenhower or Churchill. ' (R.
